Newly Launched Documentary Shows that Sustainability Isn't Just a Buzzword in the Dutch City of Maastricht

In a world increasingly focused on sustainability, the events industry is taking significant steps to adopt eco-friendly practices. As more and more event organizers are asking destinations about their cities sustainability policies the city of Maastricht wants to tell their city’s story in a way that reflects all the ongoing efforts. The official Maastricht Convention Bureau sought to explore the extent to which sustainability practices have been embraced by local entrepreneurs within the events sector. Researchers delved into the initiatives undertaken by venues and found a compelling correlation between their local Maastricht partners and the broader global meetings industry.

Highest ranked SDGs show clear alignment with global research
The convention bureau found out which 4 SDGs are particularly relevant in Maastricht:

  • Decent work and economic growth
  • Sustainable cities and communities
  • Responsible production and consumption
  • Partnerships for the goals

The clear alignment of the highest ranked SDGs with global research in the SDG Report of the Joint Meeting Industry Council highlights that sustainability isn't just a buzzword—it's a driving force behind meaningful change in the events industry.
