Bella Center Copenhagen:
Pioneering Conversations About Responsible Hospitality
Bella Center Copenhagen, Denmark’s renowned congress and event venue, is making waves in the world of responsible hospitality and sustainability, emphasizing three key themes: solar power, environmental commitments, and setting science-based targets.
The three themes – all underlying parts of Bella Center and parent company Bellagroup’s overarching responsible hospitality strategy - were recently explored as a spatial installation set to inspire attendees at top-tier industry summit PCMA Convening EMEA 2023, which took place at Bella Center in late September.
Now, Director of Congress & Large Events at Bella Center Copenhagen Gemma Strutt, shares more details of the venues commitment to deliver and inspire tangible change in anticipation of the conversations unfolding at IBTM World in Barcelona.
“In our industry you can easily get the impression that sustainability is a race or something to be ‘won’. It is not. Acting more sustainably is an ongoing journey with new questions and challenges arising whenever new stones are turned. We share our knowledge and experience not because we are done, but because we are forever just getting started. And we invite our guests and clients to join us in conversations about the road towards shaping the responsible hospitality and event landscape of the future," states Gemma Strutt.
Get to know three main projects fueling Bella Center Copenhagen’s efforts:
Embracing Solar Power for a Greener Tomorrow
By the end of 2023, Bella Center Copenhagen will unveil an impressive solar panel park on its roof, covering an area equivalent to two football fields. This ambitious project is set to provide one-third of the venue's annual electricity consumption, making it the largest solar park of its kind on the Danish capital island of Zealand.
Pledging to the Planet Copenhagen Manifesto
Copenhagen's ambition to become the world's most sustainable destination by 2023 is being realized through destination partner Wonderful Copenhagen's ‘Planet Copenhagen’ initiative, launched in 2022. Bella Center Copenhagen, along with its sister hotel properties, has proudly joined the Planet Copenhagen Manifesto as signatories, committing to five essential objectives promoting sustainable tourism.
Pledging to Science-Based Targets
Bellagroup – the congress center’s parent company - is the first event and hospitality organization in Denmark to apply to the UN backed Science Based Targets initiative.
"We have set ourselves the ambitious target of reaching net zero emissions by 2050, with an interim goal in accordance with the Paris Agreement's requirement to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030," concludes Gemma Strutt.
At IBTM World you can meet Bella Center at stand H40 powered by Visit Denmark.
