Terms and Conditions

1. Who are we?

The Event Business Accelerator Competition (referred to in these terms and conditions as Event Website Competition) is offered to you by Reed Exhibitions Limited. Our principal place of business is at Gateway House, 28 The Quadrant, Richmond, Surrey, TW9 1DN, UK. Reed Exhibitions Limited is the company that in these Terms and Conditions (hereinafter, also known as “we” or “us”.

We are the organiser of the IBTM World Event to be held on 30 November - 2 December 2021 at L'Hospitalet de Llobregat Barcelona and the owner and controller of the website https://www.ibtmworld.com/ (referred to in these Terms and Conditions as “the Event Website”).

2. What terms, conditions and rules apply to the Event Website Competition?

These Terms and Conditions apply to the Event Website Competition. You will be deemed to have accepted these Terms and Conditions and to have agreed to be bound by them by entering the Event Website Competition. If you are in breach of these Terms and Conditions, you may be excluded from access to the Event Website Competition.

You must be over 18 years of age at the date of entry in order to participate in the Event Website Competition.

Entry into Event Website Competition is restricted via Internet entry only. You must visit the Event Website at https://www.ibtmworld.com/en/Whats-on/ibtm-accelerate/event-business-accelerator/ (the “Entry Site”) complete and submit the entry form online (Entry Form) , which will ask for your details including your name, job title, company, name and address, age, and email address.

You must be a visitor to the Website to enter into the Event Website Competition.

Unfortunately:

  • employees of Reed Exhibitions Limited and any associated company of Reed Exhibitions Limited;
  • any person directly or indirectly involved in the running of the Event Website Competition;

are excluded from entering the Event Website Competition and their entries will not be considered.

All qualifying entrants who complete and submit the Entry Form via the Entry Site will be entered into the Event Website Competition to potentially gain future financial and/or mentorship at the discretion of a judging panel (“the Prize”).

Prize Draw Guidelines

You must ensure that the email address you provide when submitting the Entry Form is a valid one and is accurate. If the email address supplied is invalid for whatever reason, we reserve the right to withdraw the entrant from the Event Website Competition. Our decision in this regard is final.

You will only be entitled to submit one Entry Form for the Event Website Competition.

All completed Entry Forms for the Event Website Competition must be received by us after 09:00 on 01 July 2021 and before 17:00 31 August 2021. Any Entry Forms received before or after this period will not be accepted.

We may, at our discretion, change the dates of entry into the Event Website Competition and/or the dates on which the Event Website Competition will be drawn. We also reserve the right to alter, amend, suspend or withdraw these Terms and Conditions and/or the Event Website Competition without prior notice. Any changes to these Terms and Conditions will be indicated on the Entry Site (https://www.ibtmworld.com/) and it is your responsibility to check for any such changes.

Prize Details

The Prize is, for a maximum of five (5) candidates i.e. finalists, a 6-week ‘free-of-charge’ training and mentoring course, prior to arriving in Barcelona on the 30 November 2021, to present a live pitch to a panel of judges, press and audience and to potentially gain future financial and/or mentorship at the discretion of a judge from the judging panel.

As above, there are five (e) candidates, i.e. finalists and each candidate is permitted to bring one (1) other to the Event, insofar as the one (1) other is an integral part of the ‘business-idea’ to be presented at the live pitch, is involved with the presentation and is part of the ‘business-venture’ of receiving mentoring and possible investment from the judge(s), if they are successful and a Winner.

Outbound and inbound flights and accommodation for all candidates and if applicable, their one (1) other, will be fully paid for by us. Food expenses and the like are not complimentary.

The judging will be based upon the criteria provided to the finalists in the first week, out of the obligatory, once a week, 6-week on-line training programme taking place September - November 2021.

The Prize selected and supplied is by an individual judge, from the judging panel and is the only prize that may be awarded to the Winner(s) of Event Website Competition.

The Prize is subject to the discretion of the relevant judge form the judging panel and any future agreement between any Winner(s) and judge(s) will not involve Reed Exhibitions limited, who hereby is exempt from any and all liability of such agreement between the Winner(s) and judge.

All judges and candidates shall be under a Non-Disclosure Agreement.

The Winner(s) of the Event Website Competition are not entitled to a cash alternative to the Prize and such Prize is non-refundable and non-transferable.

3. How much will it cost me to enter the Event Website Competition?

Entry is via the Entry Form via the Entry Site at https://www.ibtmworld.com/en/Whats-on/ibtm-accelerate/event-business-accelerator/ and is free of charge. No purchase is necessary.

4. Selection

On 1st September 2021, a maximum of five (5) finalists will be selected from the Event Website Competition Entry Forms received by us via the Entry Site from all qualifying entrants.

We reserve the right to verify your eligibility and to check or validate your identity. If you have been asked for proof of your identity and/or your eligibility, your failure to provide such proof within a reasonable time could result in your disqualification from the Event Website Competition. All personal details and information you supply must be truthful and accurate.

The finalists will be notified via email before 17:00 on 14 September 2021 at the email address they supplied on the Entry Form. In order to move onto the next stage of the Event Website Competition , the finalists will be required to send their acceptance to us via email on or before 17:00 on 16 September 2021.

The Winner(s) will be notified in person, before 17:00 on 1 December 2021, at the Event.

All finalists, irrespective of whether they become a Winner, will receive a certificate.

5. How will we use your personal details?

We will only use your personal details to operate Event Website Competition to verify your identity and eligibility and to use the Winner(s) name and photograph for promoting the Winner.

Your personal details will be treated in accordance with our Privacy Policy from time to time and in accordance with the law as it relates to people’s personal details.

As a candidate, i.e. finalist, you will be presenting at a live pitch that may well be filmed and photographed. You authorise such filming and/or photography and permit us to use your photograph, image and likeness for archival and Event Website promotional purposes in any media throughout the world. If you are a Winner, you may also be filmed and we may take your photograph and so may the press, when you are awarded your Prize or ask you for a photograph.

6. Ownership of Competition Entries and intellectual property rights

We do not claim any rights of ownership in your Competition entry.

By submitting your Event Website Competition Entry Form and any accompanying material, you agree that we may, (but are not required to), make your entry available on the Event Website and any other media, whether now known or invented in the future, and in connection with any publicity of the Event Website Competition.

You agree to grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, irrevocable licence, for the full period of any intellectual property rights in the Event Website Competition [and any accompanying materials], to use, display, publish, transmit, copy, edit, alter, store, re-format and sub-licence the Event Website Competition [and any accompanying materials] for such purposes.

With regard to your Entry Form, you confirm the following:

Your Entry Form (including images and submissions) are original works, are not defamatory and do not infringe third-party rights;

There are no conflicting agreements in place that restrict usage of these images or other submissions;

You have consent to use any third-party image in the entry and rights have been waived for that use. If a third party image is of a person under 18, you must provide parental or guardian consent.

You will produce evidence of any required consents on request, or risk being disqualified from entering the Competition.

7. How far are we liable or responsible to you?

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions removes or limits our liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by our negligence or for any liability, which cannot be limited or excluded by the law. These Terms and Conditions also do not affect the rights that are granted to you as a consumer by the law. Otherwise, we will not be liable to you for any matter relating to the Event Website Competition offered by us.

We will also not be liable to you if you suffer loss or inconvenience because of the failures of persons or systems that we do not directly control – for example, [mobile phone] network operators, internet service providers, postal services, software providers and telephone traffic handlers.

8. The legal position of these Terms and Condition

These Terms and Conditions form a legally binding agreement between you and us. We reserve the right to change them and update them from time to time but if we do so, we will post the changes on the Event website.

The Event Website Competition is run and organised by us and the Prize supplier judges, strictly in accordance with the laws of England and Wales and all other applicable laws relating to data protection, anti-bribery and compliance that are applicable in the United Kingdom, the European Union, the United States of America and elsewhere in the world.

These Terms and Conditions, and any dispute, controversy, proceedings or claim of whatever nature arising out of or in any way relating to these Terms and Conditions, the validity and performance hereof or their formation (including any non-contractual disputes or claims), shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales (save that the conflicts of law principles will be expressly excluded). The parties hereby irrevocably acknowledge and agree that the English courts shall have exclusive jurisdiction in respect hereof.
