Taxi Disruption

  • It has been announced that a national taxi disruption will take place across Spain from 6am on Wednesday 29 November until 11pm on Wednesday 29 November. The disruption is part of an ongoing nationwide campaign to urge the Spanish government to legally protect regulated taxi companies against apps such as Uber or Cabify, which offer cheaper services.

We have worked with our partners in Barcelona to mitigate as far as possible the impact of the strike on your travel on Wednesday.

On Wednesday 29 November we would suggest the following for your travel to and from Fira Gran Via:

  • Metro for Wednesday

There is a metro stop in the Fira Gran Via. The metro costs 2.15 Euros one way and tickets can be purchased in any of the metro stations. There will be staff available in the metro station in Gran Via to help you purchase tickets.

    Buses for Wednesday

Additional buses have been added to the IBTM World Shuttle Bus Timetable which serves 40+ Hosted Buyer hotels throughout Barcelona. If you are not staying in one of the serviced hotels, please determine which hotel is nearest for you to walk to and board the bus there.

You can download our shuttle bus route map here.

Shuttle buses will be leaving from 5pm from the Fira Gran Via.

    Airport for Wednesday

Transportation will also be running regularly between the venue and the airport. However, please note that due to increased traffic you should leave earlier than usual when planning your trip to and from the airport. If you are arriving at the airport, the IBTM World ground transportation staff will inform you if it will be faster to take the metro at a cost of 4.50 Euros, or if the airport car/bus transportation will get you to the venue in a timely manner.

    Parking for Wednesday

We have increased our car parking ticket allocation at the Fira Gran Via for those with car transportation. These parking tickets will be offered on a first come first serve basis at the information desk in the Central Plaza (by escalators) available from midday on Tuesday 29 November.

  • MPI Rendezvous Transportation for Wednesday

If you are attending Rendezvous, MPI has arranged additional bus transfers from the Opium Bar to key locations in the city every 30 minutes from 11.30pm – 2.30am. The three different routes will stop at the below points so please note the route closest to your hotel.

Route 1: Plaza Catalunya + La Pedrera

Route 2: Plaza España + Sants + Fira

    Route 3: Forum + Glories

Alternatively, the metro closes at 12am should you find this transport more convenient.

Please visit the Exhibitor Sales Lounge for further questions you may have.
