Sustainability Consultant Melissa Radu works closely with the Shaw Conference Centre in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, recognized as the first convention venue in Canada to receive Green Key level five status and one of only five venues in the nation to receive the prestigious ASTM International certification. She holds a Masters in Sustainable Tourism and Regional Development from Llieda University and the Ostelea School of Hospitality and Tourism here in Spain, and is continually involved in field work and research the field of sustainable tourism in  Europe and back home in Canada. Melissa’s role at the SCC highlights the Shaw Conference Centre as a community leader in environmental sustainability and strengthens Edmonton’s commitment to sustainability through sustainable venue operations. Melissa is part of a larger team at Edmonton Tourism that aligns with the City of Edmonton’s priorities to build a socially, environmentally, economically and financially sustainable society. 

The Shaw Conference Centre is a division of Edmonton Economic Development Corporation – together, they work to generate environmental, economic and social benefits for the Edmonton region. Recognized by the International Association of Venue Managers as one of North America’s top five performing venues, Edmonton’s downtown convention centre hosts nearly 650 events and half a million guests annually.
