Meet the team

  • Katie Devaney

    Position: EIBTM Marketing Manager

What does your role entail: As the Marketing Manager for EIBTM no day is the same as it’s such a varied role. I produce EIBTM’s marketing strategy and communication plans, manage the brand and create the strategy around the visitor experience and I oversee events like our famous Tapas Night and the EIBTM Club night, so it’s not just all work and no play!  I am also privileged to lead a team of talented and creative young marketing professionals whose skills are varied and are experienced in all things marketing from digital, online and social media, to print production, copy writing and so much more.

Events industry experience: I’ve been at Reed Travel Exhibitions for nearly seven years now, joining initially as Marketing Manager to launch GIBTM due to my previous experience in launching new events.  My heart and soul is in the events industry and I’ve been lucky enough to travel the globe to market, organise and launch events and exhibitions in all sorts of exciting destinations for many years now.

What is your favourite destination: I don’t want to sound clichéd but I really do love Barcelona, it has everything you’d want for both business and pleasure as a city by the sea and the architecture is just stunning.

Where would you like to travel to in the next year: Despite travelling for most of my career as well as for pleasure, there are still so many places on my list so I guess I’ve got a longer term plan, but I’d settle for a nice beach with white sand and sun anywhere it may be.

What is your top tip for an EIBTM attendee: I would definitely register early to attend and that way you can take advantage of the great travel discounts that EIBTM provides and keep up to date with news about the show in order to plan your visit.  We’ve got so much great new content this year and highlights include our new ‘Innovation zone’ which we are really excited about and the new ‘Genius Zones’. I would also recommend making the most of EIBTM’s official networking events and the Exhibitor events happening during Networking Hour.

An industry issue you would like to see tackled at EIBTM 2013: What will the meetings and events of the future look like and what new innovations will genuinely change our worlds forever?  Is 3D printing going to come and go, or will it be augmented reality or google glasses that we should all be directing our attention to?  Where do we focus our time and resources for future success?

What types of technologies/event innovations do you work on personally: I oversee the website and our great event app, as well as developing new digital platforms such as our new Live Wall and other innovations, there’s so much on the horizon right now that it is a really exciting time for experiential marketing.

    Position: Education Content Executive

What does your role entail: Sourcing content and speakers for our education programmes in the Middle East (GIBTM), USA (AIBTM), China (CIBTM) and Europe (EIBTM). I also manage logistics for the conferences, both pre-show and onsite.

Events industry experience: I’ve been in my current role at Reed Travel Exhibitions for nearly two years (8 shows!). Prior to that, four years working in the academic non-profit sector, managing inter-disciplinary PhD level conferences, internationally.

What is your favourite destination: As a scuba diving enthusiast, I adore the Red Sea coast of Egypt.

Where would you like to travel to in the next year: I have the privilege of visiting some fantastic countries as part of my job, so I’m looking forward to returning to China for CIBTM in September, when I hope I can explore a bit more of the country.

What is your top tip for an EIBTM attendee: Make sure to find time to attend some great education! All our sessions are free of charge, with dedicated programmes for Agency, Corporate and Association Hosted Buyers®. Plus, if you’re arriving the day before, come along to the EIBTM Forum for a great keynote speaker!

An industry issue you would like to see tackled at EIBTM 2013: We try and tackle them all! But having worked hard on the inaugural hybrid event last year, we’re looking to expand the hybrid offering this year making our education even more accessible on a wide variety of issues.

What types of technologies/event innovations do you work on personally: As someone with a keen interest in event innovation, I work as part of the steering committee for the Future Events Experience, helping to drive both content and vision forward.

  • Amy Seabrook

    Position: Marketing Executive

What does your role entail: Marketing for IBTM global events is brilliant because it’s so varied. My role involves working on almost everything our attendees see and hear from us, whether it be website pages, emails, blogs, brochures or adverts. I work alongside a number of teams including the Hosted Buyer team, sales and our list of Media Partners to ensure that we are communicating key information and messages with our attendees as best as possible. I also help to build the IBTM Multi-event App and edit the IBTM quarterly magazine, The Diary.

Events industry experience: Before joining Reed Exhibitions I had worked in marketing for an events venue where I was responsible for coordinating predominantly social functions such as weddings, proms and charity functions. I then worked in PR for a consumer agency in central London where I worked on PR campaigns and events for a number of global brands and charities. I am enjoying learning about the Meetings Industry and the b2b marketing side of this.

What is your favorite destination: There’s too many to choose from, but I am a big fan of New York and Florence.

Where would you like to travel to in the next year: I’ve always wanted to visit India

What is your top tip for an EIBTM exhibitor: Sign up to the Exhibitor Portal from July 1st and make your brand stand out to buyers. Ensure you have all the relevant information on there plus more!

An industry issue you would like to see tackled at EIBTM 2013: I have to admit I’m a bit of a tech geek and I really look forward to seeing the new innovations being showcased at IBTM events. I think these emerging technologies are really exciting for the industry.

What types of technologies/event innovations do you work on personally: I look after the App for the IBTM portfolio. It is a great platform to enhance the experience of the Exhibitor and Visitor before, during and after the show, giving them easily accessible information.

What is your favorite destination: Probably the Perhentian islands in Malaysia, but I’ve spent quite a lot of time in Barcelona and love it there for both business and pleasure.

Where would you like to travel to in the next year: I’m planning to travel around Cuba for a few weeks in January next year.

What is your top tip for an EIBTM exhibitor: Sign up and take actions early to maximize your exposure as well as your exhibiting partners. We have a new exhibitor portal this year, so I would recomend taking some time to explore the opportunities and benefits it has to offer. I always happy to help with any queries and show you around

What interesting meetings exhibition/conferences have you been to recently: EIBTM 2012 was my first exhibition within the IBTM portfolio. It was great to see the show come together and get to know the exhibitors and work with the EIBTM team.

An industry issue you would like to see tackled at EIBTM 2013: I’m always interested to see the new technology surrounding the industry, so I’m especially looking forward to the hybrid conference this year at EIBTM.
